This guide has been developed to assist end users in the steps required to access Remote Assistance from Micromine Support.
Overview:
Microsoft have implemented a remote assistance tool that is baked right in to the operating system to allow remote access in a safe and consistent manner. The tool is available without the need to download or install 3rd party applications and may be the preferred option for corporate IT teams in regards to remote access/control.
The software connection process works as follows:
- Support Staff and End User arrange time to 'meet'
- Support Staff sends security code to End User
- End User enters security code into Quick Assist platform
- Connection is established, Support Staff can now view and optionally control remote PC
- Objective is completed, Connection is closed. Support staff can no longer view or control remote PC
Steps:
Upon agreeing to 'meet' for remote session, the end user will undertake the following on the machine that requires remote assistance:
- Click on the Start Menu
- Type 'Quick Assist'
- Click on the 'Quick Assist' app
* If the quick assist app is not available, the following guide can assist - Input the security code provided by the support staff
- Press 'Allow'
- The yellow border around your screen signifies the screen is being viewed by the support agent:
- The menu bar will appear at the top of the page advertising the connection is established
- The Chat button will allow you to communicate with the support agent
- The Pause button will allow you to temporarily disconnect the support agent
- The Leave button will terminate the session, disconnecting the support agent.
If you require any further assistance, the support agent tending to your request for assistance will be able to give further instructions.
