Relates to versions - from Micromine Geobank 2023 SP2 (23.0.1266.2) to 2025 SP2 (25.0.1903.2)
Overview
When Geobank cannot find the specific request/s in the loaded SIF file in the referenced Despatch list, it flags such records as “Unresolved” with some comments describing the reason for being flagged.
Previous Behaviour (up to Geobank 2022.5) allows when selecting from the right-click menu the item “Mark As” -> “New Request” to see the form with a list of all the existing combos: [Laboratory + Lab Method + Generic Method + Element + Units]. That was quite a misleading invitation to pick something from that list, as nothing will match the record marked “Unresolved” no matter what you choose there. The reason is that Geobank was already attempting to search this exact list in the background, and because it didn’t find the items provided in the SIF file, these records from the SIF file were highlighted to get the user’s attention as “Unresolved”.
New Behaviour (from Geobank 2023): The user interface behaviour has been changed in Sample Tracker -> Receipts -> Reconciliation. Now, right-clicking on the record marked “Unresolved” and selecting the item “Mark As” -> “New Request” does not perform any visual activities. Unfortunately, as an additional filter, there is a case-sensitive comparison. For example, if the element is defined as “WT.”, but the metadata defines it as “Wt.”, then there will not be a combo match.
The idea behind that was to avoid the false promise that it is possible to pick something matching from the list of all the combos existing in the Sample Tracker metadata tables. However, although the user cannot now make a mistake by picking a wrong combo, he may still be unaware of what to do next – how to fix these “Unresolved” records.
Solution
-
Review the Comments field – It typically contains the reason why a record couldn’t be auto-resolved.
-
For Regular Occurrences: If there is a significant probability of receiving from the lab an incorrect result, such as missing the supplied combination of lab/element/methods/unit on your side, please proceed to Sample Tracker Metadata. Once there, you can easily add all the missing items.
- For Isolated Instances: If this situation represents a unique or rare occurrence of lab/element/methods/unit set, cancel this receipt session and adjust the source file (SIF, CSV, Excel) directly. After that has been done, you can go ahead and reload the receipt.
Note
Starting from Geobank 2024 SP2 (24.0.1596.2), there are additional improvements in the Reconciliation of Receipt objects.
-
Case Sensitivity Has Been Removed to make it more consistent with the rest of the Geobank and SQL Server instances, as we insist on installing the case-insensitive option.
-
Enhanced User Guidance - Right-clicking on the record marked “Unresolved” and selecting “Mark As” -> “New Request” displays a detailed message clearly explaining the necessary steps to resolve the record with the “Unresolved” state.
