Overview
In specific workflows, users of Micromine Geobank for Field Teams may need to export records multiple times from a profile. This document outlines the process for setting up configurations to export records from profiles in a scenario where users need to re-export previously exported records.
There are two main types of export configurations:
-
Preview type: – it is easier to read the contents of it as there are no additional unique ID columns inserted, so it is convenient to preview all the tables included in this set before making decisions to do the final export into either Geobank, Micromine Origin & Beyond or any other 3d modelling package. You could export with this “Preview” type as many times as you like, and it will even include all the unapproved/checked records if such an option is selected in the configuration of that “Preview” export set.
- Export type - is the final version, containing only clean and approved records. If you selected this not for a preview set of tables to export, then the “Include Unapproved/Invalid” option will not even be available to tick. It guarantees at least an initial validation of the records passed by the authorised person before sending them to the 3d modelling package, for example.
Issue
Users sometimes face issues where exported files are lost or disappear from the designated storage paths despite assurances of safe storage. By default, re-exporting records that have already been exported at least once is not allowed. Usually, a brief look at the grid with partially exported and partially approved records takes time to catch the differences between these two states, as, visually, both have a padlock icon on the left side of the rows. However, a closer inspection reveals that the padlock icons differ: the exported records have a filled yellow padlock, while the approved records have an outlined padlock.
Solution
-
Enter Profile Configuration Mode:
This will allow you to modify the appropriate export template.
-
Access Export Templates:
Navigate to the “Export Templates” tab.
-
Select the Correct Template:
Choose the final export template (not the preview type).
-
Modify the Template:
Click on the tab with the template’s name.
-
Update the “Include Exported Data” Option:
Locate and check the “Include Exported Data” option within the Options frame.
-
Save Changes:
Save the updated profile.
Once you have followed all the necessary steps to modify the export template, you will be able to export records multiple times. This means that you can re-export the same records repeatedly, even if they have been exported before
