How to see and resolve validation errors that happen during the calculation of cumulative and standardization of coal analysis data.
When running the cumulative/standardizing tool and error messages pop, these errors are validation errors and or problems with the data.
To resolve the errors, you will have to see what they are.
If you are using the standard Geobank database model, then you will have access to a data view called: Validate Coal Washability data.
Here you can find the reasons why data validation failed.
Depending on what the error messages are, the fix to the data would be different.
All the validations are set in the tool itself, and if some of them need to be changed, added and or removed, they can be accessed by doing the following.
Open the configuration manager then navigate to the coal utilities.
You will have tools in the right window, then please right click on the one that you use and click on the properties option.
Once in the Properties menu, click on the configuration tab, then the settings tab, then the columns tab. As below.
From here click on the validation tab on the right and you will see that each column has validations setup for that column.
From here the validations can be switched off completely or adjusted to better suit your needs.
- Value required. Tick if yes, untick if no.
- Value must be greater than zero, this option validates that if there is a value that is cannot be a 0 value.
- Apply trend validation: this option validates that the values increase or decrease as you expect them to.
Between the data view that allows you to see what validation errors are causing the problems and having access to the validations where they can be configured, you should be able to work your way through the potential errors you may run into when running the cumulative and standardization calculations.
