Introduction
Micromine Geobank For Field Teams (MGFFT) is designed to integrate with built-in cameras on devices like toughpads or laptops as well as external DSLR cameras for capturing high-quality imagery.
Issue
Occasionally, MGFFT may not recognise a connected DSLR camera.
This guide provides a general checklist to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Solution
General Considerations for Camera Integration
1. Camera Compatibility:
- MGFFT has been tested to interface successfully with both Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras.
- Specific actions might be required depending on the brand:
- Nikon DSLR Cameras: The model is required to be specified in MGFFT.
- Canon DSLR Cameras: Utilises a generic driver; hence, specifying the model is unnecessary.
2. Software Requirements:
- MGFFT version 25.0 utilises Canon’s 64-bit EOS Software Development Kit (ESDK).
- Not all Canon EOS cameras are supported, despite the Development Kit name suggesting broad compatibility:
Supported Canon Camera Models Include:

3. Camera Software Updates:
- Canon frequently updates its Software Development Kit (ESDK) to include newer camera models.
- MGFFT will recognise newer Canon cameras only if its version was compiled after the corresponding ESDLK release.
- If facing issues with a newer Canon camera model, verify that your MGFFT version is up to date (with the recent ESDLK updates).
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Check Camera Model Compatibility:
- Verify if your camera is listed among the supported models for MGFFT.
2. Verify MGFFT Version:
- Ensure your MGFFT application version corresponds with the camera models (included in the latest Canon ESDK release).
3. Update Software:
- If necessary, update your MGFFT installation to a version compatible with the latest ESDK releases to address recognition issues.
