Relates to versions - Micromine Geobank 2021+ (11.1.162.0)
This guide has been produced to assist database administrators with migration of custom user objects from one Geobank instance to another.
Overview:
The Micromine Geobank application allows database administrators to copy custom user objects such as Queries, Data Views and Reports from one database instance to another. This is particularly useful when creating a test environment when assessing new versions in a UAT setting, or when migrating from one server/client machine to another.
Pre-Requisites:
To copy objects, the only requirements are that you have an Admin licence, and your account is appropriately configured to allow administrative rights:
Steps:
Custom Objects are saved in XML formatted text within the SQL Database. Whilst that can be easily subjected to backup/restore, in cases where end users aren't permitted to access the database via SQL Management Studio an alternative can be found built in to the Geobank software. To copy a custom object, follow these steps:
- Locate the object you want to replicate
- Right click on the object and press 'Copy'
- You can now paste the item, either directly into the same instance of Geobank, Into another instance of Geobank, or into a notepad.
It should be noted that pasting into the same folder structure in the same Geobank instance is not possible, you must first paste it into a new folder, and then re-name the object before copying back to the source folder.
If you require further assistance with copy/pasting within Geobank, please don't hesitate to reach out and our support team will be more than happy to assist.
