To create any new tools in Geobank, you will required administrator access to the configuration manager.
The Configuration manager is the space within Geobank where users gain access to all the tools and functions that have been created and have the ability to create new tools.
You access the configuration manager by clicking on the "config" icon in the top ribbon.
Once you have clicked on the Config button you will be taken to the Configuration manager.
From all of the options listed on the left, please expand the Data Transfer options as below:
This will list 3 options by default:
1. Exports
2. Excel Imports
3. Imports
Right click on the "Imports" option to open the and select new import from the list.
Once selected you will see the property editor: Imports window.
You can give your import a name that explains what data this tool will import and write out a description that other users can read if you feel it is required.
Click on the Configuration tab so that we can setup this import and provide some default settings for it.
From the Configuration tab, please click on the green plus symbol to add a new "Import File Spec"
For the new step you will require either the file that you to import, or at least an example file that contains headers.
If you will be adding more than 1 file to this import tool, it is strongly recommended that each of the file specs will have a unique and easily understandable name. (Each file will have to be selected once the import is done, names that relate to the file that will have to be selected will help)
This will be a basic import, so we will only cover the options required.
From the File format type, please select the type of file that will be imported.
The options in the current version of Geobank are the following:
Under the File name option, click on the Browse file and then navigate to the file that you will be importing.
By default, leaving the "Prompt for file name when task executes" as ticked is recommended as the tool will allow the user to browse for their file when it is run. If it is unticked, then it becomes hardcoded to the file path of the file we just selected.
Under the table name option, when click Geobank will list out all the tables in the database.
Please select the table where the data will be imported.
Once selected, we will have to click on the column mappings option.
From here, each column can be individually mapped from the file on the right to the columns in the database on the left. But there is also a map all columns button that can be used.
Once the columns have been mapped, please click on the "OK" button to save the mappings.
And then click on the "OK" button again.
This will bring you back to the Property Editor: Import screen.
But you will see that your import file spec has now been created.
If you only require a single file to be import with this import tool, click on the "OK" button to create and save your new import tool.
If additional files need to be imported, then just repeat the process until all the file specs have been imported and then click on the "OK" button.
The new import tool should not be added to Geobank and available for use.
